Based in Bridgeport Connecticut, the Connecticut Institute for Refugees and Immigrants (CIRI) is a statewide nonprofit organization that assists refugees and immigrants resolve legal, economic, linguistic and social barriers so that they become self-sufficient, integrated and contributing members of the community. CIRI achieves this mission by providing a compassionate array of high-quality legal, social and educational programming and by promoting cross-cultural understanding and decent treatment for all.

Sue led teams in preparing, furnishing, and lovingly decorating homes for families coming from war-torn regions and refugee camps. She thought about what every member of the family would need when arriving in this new world, from basic necessities, to beds with warm blankets, flowers, toys and all. In every house that she set up, she gave each family what became her trademark: a life-size “tree of life” wall decal, in full bloom, to welcome them home.

Norfield Congregational Church in Weston Connecticut was a special place for Sue — not only because it was filled with a loving community of people, and not only because she found comfort in her “irreverent holiness” (as she called it), but mostly because it was the place where she demonstrated to all the true meaning of “faith in action”.

She taught so many what it meant to really walk the walk: to roll up your sleeves and get to work serving others.

The Sue Ingall Memorial Fund has been set up in her name to provide the resources for young people to learn and live an impactful life, through scholarships, internships and apprenticeships.

If young people aspire to live their lives like Sue Ingall did, with her values, generosity and integrity, it will surely be a peaceful world. Thank you for contributing to this special new fund.
